It starts out like Erik Satie and ends up swinging jazz. I hope you enjoy it.
New from the
Randy Simon Jazz Project:
2 CDs of new music
The Randy Simon Jazz Project brings together some of the most talented jazz performers from New York's Capital Region to record the tunes of Randy Simon. Randy is a scientist, radio host and businessman living in upstate New York who moonlights as a jazz composer. After decades of avidly listening to jazz and several years of studying jazz theory, he took up composing for jazz ensemble and has been exploring the styles and flavors of contemporary jazz ever since. The result has been an ongoing series of recordings where Randy serves as composer, co-arranger and music producer. RSJP albums are basically recorded live in the studio, capturing the unique energy of jazz musicians interacting and improvising on the spot.
Just Deal With It
High-energy jazz with guitar and a driving rhythm section. Enjoy!
Weave the Tale
Another high-energy tune with a strong bass line. Turn it up!.
A sultry samba for late nights and darkened rooms..
"The Randy Simon Jazz Project brings to mind, on The Linda Sessions, a high end sports car in top condition zooming down a straight highway, with a rhythm section/drive train boosted by a piano and a guitar. The sound is clean, momentum smooth and straight forward.
The band is as tight as a late fifties/early sixties Blue Note Records session, featuring the four-man rhythm section with a trumpet and sax.
Simon's "project" features some of the top players in the Albany region, in a vibrant, live-in-the-studio atmosphere that results in lively, top-notch sounds.
The Linda Sessions serves up two disc's worth of first rate modern jazz…"
